Week 9: June 26th to July 4th
This was my last week working at the school, which was definitely saddening. Many of the students were crying and asking me for ways to stay in touch, and the teachers/administrators were asking me to stay a little longer and help the school. Although I am leaving, physically, emotionally and mentally I will continue to work with CJO as much as I can. I am currently working on analyzing my data for an initial paper/poster presentation at the American Anthropological Association conference in November, and am justifying gender-based research at the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo in a virtual conference. Overall, I am still in touch with the professors and teachers that I have met, and will always continue to provide them with updates about the work that I have done and have yet to complete. This journey is not over, but this chapter is closed...for now.
After the 2-month long research fiasco, I took a very short & quick vacation to Machu Picchu in Aguas Calientes, Peru. For those wondering, to get to Machu Picchu (from Trujillo) we had to take two flights, two bus rides, and a train ride -- but boy, was it worth it. It definitely was an amazing way to end all of the hard work, while commemorating and celebrating the years to come.
